Sir, – The Irish Times news report of December 1st informing us that over a third of working age Ukrainian refugees in Ireland are in jobs is very good news indeed. They are rapidly becoming a positive asset to Ireland rather than a burden on the State.
When the illegal war waged by Russia eventually comes to an end, many refugees will return to Ukraine. If they have previously been warmly welcomed with open arms and accepted into our society, they will have a positive attitude to Ireland and be more inclined to revisit us on holidays and perhaps forge lasting social and economic links with us.
