Sir, – Readers (Letters, September 10th) are right to be sceptical about the national taskforce set up by Government “to help improve the experience of non-consultant hospital doctors” (News, September 9th).
The vast majority of non-consultant hospital doctors are not in fact trainees. They are simply non-consultant hospital doctors.
The obvious solution is to create more permanent hospital consultant positions and consultant training posts to which these non-consultant hospital doctors could be appointed.
Clearly, we don’t need a taskforce to point this out but perhaps one is needed to obfuscate? – Yours, etc,
