Sir, – The term bank holiday is still relevant today albeit in a different way to our traditional understanding of it.
Now when I call my bank, I put the call on reduced loudspeaker, sit back, put my feet up and, with coffee at hand, tuck into my holiday reading.
Many chapters later, anaesthetised to the muzak and “your call is important to us, all our operators are busy, please hold” I might hit redial or just fall asleep. A modern day bank holiday. – Yours, etc,
