Gaza City hit by at least four explosions

Palestine’s biggest city experiences blasts targeting Hamas and other Islamic officials

At least four explosions have rocked Gaza City, targeting cars belonging to officials from Islamic factions including the territory's Hamas rulers.

Speculation over who was behind the attacks immediately centred on supporters of the Islamic State group, who have been battling with Hamas and other Islamic groups in the small coastal strip.

Witnesses said a freshly painted Islamic State group flag was seen at the site of the explosions.

Hamas recently launched a fierce crackdown on alleged IS supporters.

The attacks took place outside the houses of local officials in the Sheikh Radwan neighbourhood.

A witness said the blasts occurred seconds apart from each other just after 6am local time today.

Ayman Sahabani of Gaza City’s Shifa hospital said the blasts slightly wounded a young woman and a man.

The Hamas-run interior ministry said an investigation had been launched.
