A LIMERICK woman has been ordered to demolish a chalet near Caragh Lake, Co Kerry.

Liz Murphy, for Kerry County Council, told the Circuit Civil Court in Killarney that the chalet had been built without permission. An order had been made in July 2008 that it should be knocked; work on this was incomplete.

The Scandinavian-type chalet was built where there had once been a timber shack at Tooreenasliggaun, Caragh Lake, Killorglin, council enforcement officer Paul O’Connor had found. In April 2004 the shack had been removed and the chalet built without authorisation, he said. However, Kathleen Leddin, Eden Terrace, North Circular Road, Limerick, told the council the chalet was on the site of a house she had used for years.
