London - A British pensioner who mailed a cheque for 75 pence to the Chancellor of the Exchequer in disgust at the meagre 75p weekly rise in the state pension this year was surprised to find it had been cashed.
Ms Nora Knight, aged 78, told the Independent newspaper that she had sent Mr Gordon Brown the cheque as a protest
