The chairman of the Western Health Board, Dr Greg Kelly, is to seek a nomination to run for Fianna Fail in the next general election, in the Roscommon/Longford constituency.
Dr Kelly is a family GP based in Castlerea, Co Roscommon. He has been a member of the health board for the past 14 years, and was elected chairperson in July.
Six candidates have now declared their intention to seek the nomination, following the announcement from Mr Sean Doherty that he is to step down from national politics.
