Warrant issued for Quinn Direct manager

A JUDGE has issued a warrant for the general manager of Quinn Direct Insurance to appear in court

A JUDGE has issued a warrant for the general manager of Quinn Direct Insurance to appear in court. Judge Tom O'Donnell made the order at Limerick District Court yesterday after a solicitor claimed he was unable to get a copy of his client's insurance certificate from the company.

The judge said customers were paying money to Quinn Direct and entitled to know what policies they had taken out.

Mark Moloney (28), South Claughaun Road, Garryowen, Limerick, is charged with having no insurance on July 4th, 2007, at Michael Street in Limerick city.

A faxed photocopy of Mr Moloney's insurance certificate was supplied by Quinn Direct for a court sitting on May 13th last, but the fax was not accepted by gardaí because information on it was illegible.

Solicitor John Herbert, on behalf of Mr Moloney, issued a subpoena on June 26th to the company's general manager, Colin Morgan, at Quinn Direct head office, Dublin Road, Cavan, to appear in court yesterday.

The cover letter sent to Mr Morgan said there would be no need for him to appear in court if he provided a copy of the original certificate of insurance.

However, Mr Herbert received no response from Quinn Direct and he had then asked for the warrant to be issued as soon as possible. The case was adjourned to July 29th next.
