A former Co Tyrone family are to hold a second funeral service for a victim of September 11th in New York. A month ago the Canavan family, originally from Ballygawley, learnt that part of the body of Sean (39), had been recovered from the World Trade Centre. His parents, Kieran and Rose, emigrated to the US in the fifties.

Sean, a building contractor, had been employed on the ground floor of the second tower when the plane hit. He had phoned his sister to tell her about the first aircraft hitting and he was "getting out as soon as possible".

However, the family believed that he took the full force of the blast as the second aircraft entered the building. The family had, like so many others, had a funeral without a coffin.
