Two men aged in their 30s and 50s were seriously injured this afternoon when their car hit a wall at Whitechurch Village, Cork.

Gardaí have appealed for information as part of their investigation into the single-vehicle incident, which occurred at about 12.30pm.

The two men were taken by ambulance to Cork University Hospital, while three other occupants of the car, all male and aged in their late teens and 20s, were also taken to hospital with injuries as not thought life-threatening.

The road is closed and traffic diversions are in place. Forensic collision investigators had been requested.
