Two men were remanded in custody yesterday when they appeared in Callan, Co Kilkenny, District Court on charges arising from a major drugs seizure near Waterford.
Mr Sixto Gonzales (33) and Mr Oscar Loria (35), both from the Philippines, were charged with having ecstasy for supply at Belview port on September 11th.
Det Sgt Terry Butler told the court the drugs seized had a value in excess of £300,000. The defendants were crew members on a boat which had arrived from Rotterdam and he opposed bail.
Judge Peter Smithwick remanded them to Kilkenny District Court next Tuesday.
