Two Scottish men appeared before a special sitting of Youghal District Court in Co Cork last night in connection with the death of a 45-year-old Portuguese man. Mr Stephen Joab (30), and Mr Graham Turnbull (35), of no fixed abode, were charged with assault causing harm to Mr Sergio Abreu.

The events occurred, the court was told, at an unknown time between Friday, September 6th and Saturday, September 7th at Clashanahy in Ardmore, Co Waterford.

Supt Liam Hayes objected to bail on the grounds that the two men are without a permanent address. He also pointed to the seriousness of the charge and the possibility of further charges in the case.

Judge David Riordan remanded the two men in custody to Cork prison until their next court appearance in Tallow District Court on on Friday, September 13th.
