Two men arrested in connection with the seizure of cannabis plants outside Virginia, Co Cavan yesterday were scheduled to appear before Ballyconnell District Court this morning at 10.30am charged in connection with the seizure.

Gardaí arrested the two in Virginia yesterday and seized an estimated €700,000 worth of cannabis plants in a planned operation.

Detectives from the Cavan-Monaghan division searched a warehouse in the operation and discovered a major cultivation operation with approximately 800 cannabis plants. The precise street value of the seizure is dependent on analysis.

The two were held for questioning at Bailieborough Garda station under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
