Bucharest - Romanian nationalist Mr Corneliu Vadim Tudor yesterday accused former leftist president Mr Ion Iliescu, his rival in tomorrow's second-round presidential election, of "colossal" attempts to rig the vote.

At the same time, Mr Iliescu's party said it had made good progress in drawing up a new government.
