Three held over human trafficking

Three people have been arrested as part of a Garda investigation into human trafficking.

Three people have been arrested as part of a Garda investigation into human trafficking.

Gardaí carried out a series of planned searches in the Dublin, Dundalk and Athlone areas yesterday and seized mobile phones, electronic devices and documentation.

A man in his late 20s and a woman in her early 30s are currently being held in Clondalkin Garda station under  section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Another man who was arrested in Athlone has been  released without charge.

Operation Quest aims to identify potential victims of human trafficking. The investigation team are liaising with Europol, Interpol, the Police Service of Northern Ireland and a number of other organisations.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have information for the ongoing operation to contact them in Store Street, Dublin 1 on 01-668074, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
