Three appear in court over Roscommon assault

Three men who are accused of a serious assault on a Roscommon publican last week appeared at the local district court today.

Three men who are accused of a serious assault on a Roscommon publican last week appeared at the local district court today.

The three - all with addresses at Killarney Park, Roscommon - were charged with the assault on Ned Gilligan in his pub in Roscommon town on Thursday night last. Mr Gilligan suffered serious injuries.

Today Bernard Corcoran and brothers David McDonagh and Christopher McDonagh were charged with assaulting him under Section Three of the Criminal Justice Act.

Mr Corcoran, who has been in custody since appearing at Glenamaddy district court on Friday last, was remanded in custody by Judge Geoffrey Browne to appear in Harristown district court on November 25th.

Christopher McDonagh, who was formally charged with the assault yesterday morning, was remanded in custody to appear in Dunmore district court on November 22nd.

David McDonagh, who was also charged with the offence yesterday morning, was given bail and instructed to appear at Roscommon district court on December 20th.
