The Court of Criminal Appeal has upheld a four-year sentence imposed on a man for sexual offences against his young nieces. However, the court suspended the last 12 months of his sentence.
In May last year, the man, now in his seventies, pleaded guilty at the Central Criminal Court to 11 counts of sexual abuse on his two nieces on dates in 1970 and 1971 when the girls were between 12 and 14 years. He was given a four year sentence with the last six months suspended.
