A suicide car bomber attacked a convoy of private American security agents in the centre of Baghdad today.

An Iraqi police official said one passer-by was injured but no one in the convoy was hurt in the explosion in Baghdad's busy Karradah neighborhood, a main shopping and commercial district.

It was the second attack in a week near the heavily fortified Sadir Hotel.

A car bombing near the hotel on Friday killed an Iraqi security guard and wounded two others. The Sadir Hotel is used by foreign security agents and other Westerners involved in reconstruction in Iraq.
