A guide to the Northern Ireland peace process was launched by the Minister of Higher and Further Education, Training and Employment, Dr Sean Farren, in the Ulster Museum, Belfast, yesterday.

A Farewell To Arms? From `Long War' To Long Peace In Northern Ireland is published by Manchester University Press. The editors are Prof Michael Cox, professor of international politics at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, Prof Adrian Guelke, professor of comparative politics at Queen's University, Belfast, and Ms Fiona Stephen, research fellow in the department of international politics, University of Wales.

The book includes a contribution from Mr Paul Gillespie, Foreign Editor of The Irish Times and project leader of the UK Group in the Institute of European Affairs, Dublin, who writes on the transition from Anglo-Irish to British-Irish relations.

The majority of the 21 authors are academics who have lived and worked in Northern Ireland. Others are prominent politicians in the developing peace process, such as Dr Farren and Dr Martin Mansergh.
