Kilkenny's Henry Shefflin looks set to join former teammate DJ Carey and legendary Kerry footballer Pat Spillane in the record books as he chases his seventh All-Star, after the nominations for the hurling awards were announced today.

Shefflin is nominated alongside 10 of his All-Ireland winning teammates, one of whom, half-back Tommy Walsh, is vying to win his fifth consecutive award.

Defeated finalists Limerick have 10 players nominated, while Waterford's contribution to this year's championship has been recognised with nine nominations.

Cork are nearly as prolific with seven players up for the award, while Laois's sole nominee, half-forward James Young, has been nominated for the second time.
