A compensation claim against a Northern Ireland Catholic priest by a woman who alleged he sexually abused her as a child has been settled in the High Court in Belfast. The terms were not disclosed.

The woman, now aged 29, alleged she was sexually assaulted in her home in Derry and other places over a 10year period between 1981 and 1990.

The Bishop of Derry, Dr Seamus Hegarty, and his predecessor, Dr Edward Daly, were also named as defendants.

They were sued as the woman claimed the alleged assaults happened while the priest was acting as their servant.
