Another Eircom union has warned the company that it will not tolerate any attempt to prevent it representing and recruiting staff.

The assistant general secretary of the Public Service Executive Union, Mr Billy Hannigan, has rejected suggestions that his union should withdraw from representing middle management grades in Eircom.

The company has written to its group of unions proposing that they be reduced from the current five to two. The second-largest union in the group, the Civil and Public Service Union, has already come out against the proposal.
