John Torney was convicted of killing his 33-year-old wife, Linda, son John (13) and daughter Emma (10) at the family home in Cookstown, Co Tyrone.

Torney's always maintained his innocence and his legal team argued at his trial that his son shot his sister and mother and then turned the gun on himself.

Police are investigating the death of Torney Sr but it is understood he died of natural causes.
