RTE to mark Wilde centenary

RTE radio will mark the centenary of Oscar Wilde's death today with four radio items

RTE radio will mark the centenary of Oscar Wilde's death today with four radio items. Wilde died in Paris on November 30th, 1900.

At 7.05 p.m. actor Niall Toibin will read The Ballad of Reading Gaol. At 11.10 p.m. a talk on The Picture of Dorian Gray, by Michael James Forde, may be heard. A Thomas Davis lecture on Wilde by Thomas Kilroy starts at 11.25 p.m. At 12.05 a.m. Wilde's De Profundis will be broadcast.

A commemoration will take place at noon at Pearse Station, Westland Row, close to the writer's former home.
