Wimbledon Update:Men's third seed Andy Roddick won his second-round clash with Danai Udomchoke in straight sets at Wimbledon today.

Roddick eased to a 6-3 6-6 7-6 (7-3) victory on a packed Centre Court inside one hour 44 minutes at SW19.

Fifth seed Fernando Gonzalez took a little longer to record victory as he was taken to four sets on Court Two by Alejandro Falla.

The Colombian underdog took the opening set 6-4 before Gonzalez battled back to take the next two 6-3 6-4.

Falla was a break up in the fourth before Gonzalez rallied once more to force the set to a tie-break which he won to seal a 4-6 6-3 6-4 7-6 (7-1) victory.

In the Women's Singles French Open finalist Ana Ivanovic swept aside Hungarian opponent Melinda Czink in their first round clash despite a short delay for rain on Court 18.

The 19-year-old Serbian romped to the first set 6-0 before play was stopped early in the second set as the rain fell.

The stoppage helped Czink who looked a different player after the restart, and she took the sixth seed to a second set tie-break. However Ivanovic held her nerve to close out the game 6-0 7-6 (7-3).

12th seed Elena Dementieva didn't have such an easy time on Court Three against Nathalie Dechy of France.

After taking the first set 6-2 in just 27 minutes, she was forced into a tie-break in a second set that lasted 75 minutes.

Dechy went 5-1 up in the breaker, only for Dementieva to rally and close out a 6-2 7-6 (9-7) win.

Seventh seed Serena Williams struggled early but eventually overcame Alicia Molik in straight sets to reach round three.

The former champion progressed 7-6 6-3 after starting poorly on Court One, but she finished powerfully to outgun the Australian.

14th seed Nicole Vaidisova beat Karin Knapp of Italy 7-6 (8-6) 6-2 on Court 11, while 13th seed Dinara Safina beat Katerina Bondarenko 7-5 7-6 (9-7) on Court 13.
