Bogota - Colombia's largest Marxist rebel group, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), condemned last week's terrorist attacks, but said the US government's own policies were to blame.

The guerrillas said in an e-mail communique late on Sunday that the "imperial" US had brought the attacks on itself.

The US is providing about $1 billion in mainly military aid to Colombia's armed forces, which is aimed at fighting the cocaine trade but has also increased the army's effectiveness against the FARC.
