The jury in the trial of a Wicklow man charged with raping an acquaintance's girlfriend in his house has failed to reach a verdict at the Central Criminal Court.

The jury told Mr Justice Carney after three hours' deliberation that they could not come to a decision in the case. It was the third day of the trial.

Mr Justice Carney said that another jury would now have to try the case.
