Racing:After all the problems the big freeze caused to the racing calendar, the heavy rain over the country now looks likely to claim Wednesday's meeting at Punchestown.

With officials having staged an inspection this morning, the Co Kildare track was found to be waterlogged.

A statement issued by the Irish Turf Club read: “Following a course inspection at Punchestown this morning, the course was found to be unfit for racing due to waterlogging ahead of the scheduled fixture on Wednesday.

“The course endured 29 millimetres of rain on Friday night and the situation will be monitored over the coming days.”
