Postmortem results on the bodies of a mother and her two daughters found in the River Slaney over the weekend revealed found they died from drowning.

The examinations on the bodies of Sharon Grace (29) and her daughters - Abby (3) and Mikahla (4) - were carried out by State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy.

Fishermen found the bodies along Kaats Strand, over a mile from Wexford town on Sunday morning. A third daughter, Amy (10), who was not involved in Saturday's incident, is being looked after by members of Ms Grace's family.

Foul play is not suspected in the case, and gardaí not seeking anyone else in relation to the case. There were a number of sightings of a woman and two small children near Kaats Strand at around 8pm on Saturday night.

Results from toxicology tests on Ms Grace are not yet known.

The bodies will be taken to Barntown Church in Co Wexford this evening ahead of burial Mass tomorrow morning.
