Pope to receive Dingle bell gift

Tomorrow the Pope will receive a special gift from Dingle jeweller Mr Brian Stack

Tomorrow the Pope will receive a special gift from Dingle jeweller Mr Brian Stack. It is a millennium silver bell fashioned after St Patrick's Bell.

The Pope will receive the gift when he greets Mr Stack and his wife, Mairead, in private audience at the Vatican.

"We have a friend, a priest here in Kerry, who was able to arrange the meeting with Pope John Paul. We were delighted and honoured to hear the Pope would receive us. When our friend admired the millennium bells we have been making, we decided it would be a nice gesture to make a gift of one," Mr Stack said.

The bell is engraved with a celtic cross, a brief message telling of its origin and the prayer, Criost inne, inniu, go brach as well as the prayer used by the Pope in Ireland, Mulladh go deo le Dia.
