Vilnius - Lithuanian polls closed at 8 p.m

Vilnius - Lithuanian polls closed at 8 p.m. yesterday in a general election expected to sweep the Prime Minister, Mr Andrius Kubilius's centre-right government from power in favour of centre-left parties.

Latest figures showed 52.89 per cent of eligible voters had cast their ballots, the electoral commission said.
