FF selects General Election candidates for Mayo

Fianna Fáil has selected jobs and enterprise spokesman Dara Calleary and local councillor Lisa Chambers to contest the General Election in the  Mayo constituency.

Fianna Fáil has selected jobs and enterprise spokesman Dara Calleary and local councillor Lisa Chambers to contest the General Election in the four-seater Mayo constituency.

Mr Calleary defeated Knock-based Leonard Ryan by 179 votes to 84 for the candidacy in the east-Mayo/Ballina district.

Cllr Chambers, who stood in the 2011 election and is a practicing barrister, was unopposed in the Castlebar/West Mayo area following the withdrawal of Westport-based Councillor Brendan Mulroy.
