The Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland confirmed it was not recommending a withdrawal of products from the marketplace containing phenylprop anolamine (PPA). The announcement comes after Unicare, the State's largest pharmacy group, asked customers to heed store advice when purchasing remedies containing PPA.

A health warning has been issued on the drug in the US. Medicines containing the drug include Sinutab, Daynurse, Benelyn Day and Night, Allereze Plus, Triogesic, Mucron tablets, Contact 400, Dimotap and Triominic.
