Three members of an Irish mountaineering expedition have reached the summit of Kangla Tarbo 1, a 6,315 metre, previously unclimbed Himalayan peak. They reached the top at 11 a.m. on September 9th, a brief message sent by colleagues said.
The three who made the successful ascent are Mr Hugh Reynolds, Mr Brian Geraghty and Mr Colm Owens, all based in Dublin.
The climbers, all members of the Irish Mountaineering Club, reached the mountain through the Indian Himalayan valley of Chini and the ancient kingdom of Spiti.
The team is led by Mr Paddy O'Leary (65), of Co Wicklow.
