Organisers of the Community Games have urged the Government to respond to their call for a permanent venue, before Sunday's closing ceremony.

Mosney in Co Meath, their venue for over 30 years, will only be available for the next two years.

Ms Noirin Doyle, public relations officer for the Community Games, said there is no suitable venue that can accommodate 3,000 people in a "closed secure environment with facilities for 32 activities".

She said representations had been made to the Government asking for land to develop facilities.

There are 250 acres of land adjacent to Mosney at Gormanstown which would be "ideal" for development, said Ms Doyle.
