The new Presbyterian Moderator, Dr Russell Birney, has welcomed the "no first strike" policy announced by the Loyalist Commission.
At the Church's General Assembly in Belfast, Dr Birney said in the light of the "current dangerous and unstable situation" at interface areas, the commission's statement was a "step in the right direction".
Assembly delegates also heard a report by the church's board of finance and administration stating that the church's income was continuing to rise, achieving a 6 per cent increase last year.
