The hauliers kept disturbance to a minimum in the midlands. They maintained a convoy of lorries at two major exit routes outside Athlone.
In all cases private motorists and bus operators were able to pass parked lorries with minimum disruption. Up to 100 lorries maintained a protest at Tarmonbarry, Co Roscommon, on the N5 where it crosses the river Shannon.
