The Western Care Association, which was established in Mayo in the 1960s to raise funds mainly for children with disability, is holding a fundraising ball and auction on Saturday in Dublin.

The association, founded in 1966 to provide facilities for a one-year-old boy, Tom Fallon Jnr from Castlebar, who had a severe learning disability, has provided funds for a large number of facilities in the region.

The auction will be led by the Mayo footballer, Willie Joe Padden. It will take place in the Davenport Hotel and tickets are available from Mr Eddie Kennedy (tel: 086 8269703), Mr Michael Reilly (tel: 01 6663505 or 087 8142370) or Mr Walter Kilcullen (tel: 087 2683999).
