Zamboanga - US hostage Mr Jeffrey Schilling has made a dramatic radio plea to the Philippine military to halt its assault on Abu Sayyaf kidnappers but the government said yesterday it was close to rescuing him.
"The military had hinted they had identified the location" of Mr Schilling and his abductors and "he is in relatively good condition," presidential spokesman Mr Ricardo Puno told a press conference.
