Man killed in Galway crash

A man was killed in a single-vehicle road crash in Tuam, Co Galway last night.

Gardaí in Tuam are investigating the incident at Woodquay, Weir Road about 6.30pm last night.

The sole occupant of the car, a male driver in his 60s, was fatally injured when his vehicle hit a wall. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body removed to University College Hospital Galway.

The stretch of road is closed to facilitate an examination by Garda forensic collision investigators, and local diversions are in place.
