Man jailed over €1.5m cannabis haul

A Dublin father of two has been jailed for eight years for possession of cannabis resin worth an estimated €1.5 million.

A Dublin father of two has been jailed for eight years for possession of cannabis resin worth an estimated €1.5 million.

John McGrane (43) of Westbourne Green, Clondalkin pleaded guilty to possession of the drug for the purposes of sale or supply on November 13 th, 2003.

McGrane also received a four year sentence, to run concurrently, for theft of cigarettes worth an estimated €1.17 million in August 2002.

His co-accused in the theft, 43 year old James McLoughlin, was also jailed for four years. McLoughlin of Newlands Manor, Clondalkin also pleaded guilty to four counts of handling stolen property and one of theft from Allied Irish
