A 23-year-old man has been hospitalised after an assault in Toberona, Co Louth, late last night.
The man, from Dundalk, was severely beaten by four men at around 11 p.m.
He was later taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where his condition was described as critical but stable.
Gardaí say they are following a definite line of inquiry.
