Man charged with rape of teenage girl

A man charged with raping a teenage girl was granted bail yesterday.

A man charged with raping a teenage girl was granted bail yesterday.

The 39-year-old man – who cannot be identified – appeared before Limerick District Court.

He is accused of raping the girl in Limerick on June 10th last year.

The court heard that the accused did not say anything when charged.

Judge Eugene O’Kelly granted the man free legal aid.

Sgt Donal Cronin told the court: “It is a sensitive matter”.

Judge O’Kelly ordered that the media not identify the accused or the alleged victim.

He remanded the man on a €500 bail bond, on condition that the accused does not contact the alleged victim.

The accused was remanded on bail.

One of the conditions was that he must stay away from the alleged victim’s residence.

He was remanded to appear at the court again on July 18th.
