A Corkman (34) will appear at Cork District Court again this morning charged with an attempted arson attack on a Royal Navy frigate visiting Cork over the weekend.

Mr Terence O'Brien from John's Square, Blackpool was charged with possessing two petrol bombs with intent to commit criminal damage to HMS Richmondat Horgan's Quay in Cork on February 12th.

Insp Denis O'Shea said gardaí were objecting to bail for Mr O'Brien, and Judge Uinsinn MacGruairc remanded Mr O'Brien in custody.
