Gardai in Fermoy, Co Cork, yesterday arrested a man in connection with a serious sexual assault on a young girl in the town last weekend.
The man, in his late 30s, was arrested under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act and may be held for 12 hours. The girl was returning from a disco when the alleged attack occurred in the Barrack Hill area of the town. Meanwhile, a man who posed as a taxi-driver in a stolen minibus and who committed a serious sexual assault on a French woman in Cork early on Thursday morning, has been described as 5 ft 8 ins and in his late 30s. He had dark hair and was wearing black trousers.
