A Dublin man has admitted to the manslaughter of journalist Eugene Moloney last year.

Gary Burch (21) of Kennington Close, Templogue, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to the unlawful killing of Mr Moloney on Camden Street on June 24th, 2012.

Mary Rose Gearty SC, defending, asked for the case to be adjourned for a number of weeks to allow for her client to complete a Fás course he is currently attending.

She said Burch has no previous convictions and had voluntarily spent time in custody. He was granted bail just before Christmas and has abided by all the conditions of that bail.

Pieter Le Vert BL, prosecuting, said the gardaí had no objection to Burch remaining on bail.

He told Judge Mary Ellen Ring that the deceased's family were aware that the case would take some time to be dealt with and would have no objection to a sentence date in June.
