A teenager (18) is due to appear in court in Northern Ireland today following a hit-and-run incident in which a man was critically injured.

He has also been charged with robbery, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and a series of motoring offences, including driving while disqualified and dangerous driving.

He is due before Belfast Magistrates' Court later.

The charges follow an incident last week in a car park owned by the Belfast Education and Library Board.

A woman driving out of the car park in Academy Street was stopped and the vehicle seized and driven off with her inside. A man who saw what happened tried to stop the car and was knocked down.

He suffered serious head injuries and is still recovering in hospital.

The woman was ordered out of the car a short distance away at Dunbar Link and the vehicle was later found burned out on the Upper Springfield Road in west Belfast.
