Badminton:Ireland's Chloe Magee has given herself a huge boost in the build-up to the Olympic Games by making it through to the final of the of the Russia White Nights tournament in Gatchina.
Playing Monika Fasungova of Slovakia in the quarter-final, Magee started well,
winning the first set, but in the second was unable to close out the match, narrowly losing 22-20. With her opponent starting to tire, Magee dominated the third set, winning 21-6.
After a few hours break Magee faced Romina Gabdullina of Russia
in the semi-finals. Again Magee won the opener, then let the second set slip before closing out the match in the third. She now plays number four seed Kamila Augustyn of Poland in Sunday’s final.
Fellow Olympian Scott Evans's campaign ended when he lost in straight sets to Ville Lang of Finland in the men's quarter-final.
Chloe and Sam Magee also went out in the quarter-finals stages of the mixed doubles, losing to the Russian pairing of Andrej Ashmarin and Anastasia Panushkina.
