An Irish businessman who paid a lapdancer tens of thousands of pounds for her company and sexual services during trips to London has won back the £73,000 he also loaned her during their affair.

IT contractor Kieron Sutton (37), from Ellenborough, Tallaght, Dublin met Kay Hutchinson at the Spearmint Rhino club in London's Tottenham Court Road.

He says he paid her well over £100,000 to be his escort during lonely business trips to the capital, the Court of Appeal heard today.

Mr Sutton took the blonde dancer to dinner and paid up to £800 a night for her company before the arrangement turned sexual. But the affair soured and Mr Sutton sued Miss Hutchinson when she failed to repay loans totalling £73,000.

Appeal judge Lord Justice Ward said Mr Sutton had written to the lapdancer after their relationship crumbled, saying he wanted his money back, but adding: "I do love you and would do almost anything for you. I wish you well."

In January this year, a judge at Central London County Court ordered Miss Hutchinson, of Bermondsey, east London, but originally from Hull, to pay back every penny of the money he had loaned her.

Today, her lawyers challenged the decision, arguing that the documents supporting the loans were forgeries and that any loans deal between her and Mr Sutton was unenforceable as it "offended public morality".

But the lapdancer's appeal was dismissed by Lord Justice Ward, sitting with Lord Justice Keene and Lord Justice Gage.
