London - Britain's ruling Labour Party has successfully defended one of its parliamentary seats in Scotland but it won with a wafer thin majority.

The Labour candidate, Mr Eric Joyce won, but he was run close by the Scottish National Party (SNP) candidate Mr David Kerr, who trailed by only 750 votes.
